Dear Foreigner Investor,

You’re certainly familiar with the various issues surrounding Indonesia’s business climate, which, if not examined in a balanced manner, can lead to negative perceptions. These include:

1. A country with frequently changing policies and regulations (such as drivers turning left when they signal right), thus negating long-term planning; it’s a headache!
2. Structured, systematic, and massive practices of CCCN (corruption, collusion, commission, and nepotism), from top to bottom, left to right, front to back; resulting in high economic costs, complicating budgeting, and simply disgusting!
3. Rampant thuggery, disguised as mass organizations, religious organizations, officials, and even market thugs; not only is it expensive, it also diminishes the sense of security and well-being!

What else? There’s so much more, isn’t there?

That’s why you’re reluctant to invest in Indonesia, right?

You’re not wrong to think so; and Johanes Lim doesn’t deny it; nor am I trying to persuade or convince you to invest in Indonesia.

IF you can manage CCCN and thuggery and use them as your “bodyguard,” wouldn’t you live like a king or even a “godfather”?!

REMEMBER: A problem that can be solved with money isn’t really a problem; and in Indonesia, there are no real problems, as long as you know how to manage them.

As the Chinese proverb goes: 有钱能使鬼推磨 (yǒu qián néng shǐ guǐ tuī mò). It literally translates to “with money, you can make the devil turn a millstone.” If we can enslave the devil with money, what more them?!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, you surely already know that Indonesia is a large country with a strategic geographical location, consisting of 17,000 islands, the largest economy in ASEAN, and the fourth-largest population in the world, with abundant natural resources from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island.
